December 1, 2009 Fishing Report
The water temperature of Lake Texoma is 59-61 degrees. The lake elevation is 618.27. The last two weeks of striper fishing we've seen very little changes. On our live bait trips, it has been nothing to mow thru 250+ baits in a matter of a couple of hours. We are catching our share of the smaller little footballs, but we are catching alot of the healthy 17"-19" stripers with good overs mixed in.
The next several days are forecasted for some much needed cooler weather. This is what we need to get the larger stripers on the prowl for an easy meal. Although it can be cold and ugly outside this time of year, the next couple of months you really do have a much better chance of hooking up with a Lake Texoma trophy. Bait fishing creek and river channel ledges in 35-65 feet of water has worked well for me. Sea gulls are still working the schools of stripers all over the lake. Lure fishing remains to be good fishing backs of creeks to the west of Highport Marina using 3/4 and 1oz glo sassy shads and super flukes. For those of you not interested in the early morning bite, afternoon trips have been equally productive and a little warmer. So bundle up and get ready for some Lake Texoma winter fishing.
