January 19, 2011 Fishing Report

Lake Texoma elevation is 613.34 and water tempter is 46 degrees. Lake Texoma winter striper fishing continues to produce double digit fish. This past week I fished four trip, three mornings and one afternoon with each trip producing a 11-16 lb striper. Our afternoon trip we hit the right school after some hard looking and as far as size they were the best school of large stripers I've been on in several years. As a guide you know when your on good fish but every few years or so you get on the BIG stripers one after the other and that afternoon was our day.

Although I'm still fishing live bait the deadstick and slow rolling jigs or sassy shads are also putting some large stripers in the boat. I'm using 1oz jigs and sassys in glow, pearl and chartreuse. Deadsticking I'm using 3/4 to 1oz jig heads with the 5 inch super fluke. Colors I like are white pearl and chartreuse, blue pearl and white ice. Most of the water I'm fishing is the 55-70ft.
